The Dawn of a New Age

So, Skyrim arrived, and we haven't posted anything on here because we both took some time to really get into the game. I suppose this could be a first impressions article, but I'm going to try and talk about more than just the start of the game.

So I think everyone will agree the opening to this game was amazing, the whole idea of being put to certain death but being saved by the dragons was something that we had both discussed, and I have to say, when I actually played it, it was better than I could have imagined. I chose a Dark Elf as my race, mostly because they have a good balance between destruction magic and melee combat. I plan on being a heavy armour user, with a sword and a destruction spell as my attacks.I know there are more potent and effective ways of using destruction, but being a Dark Elf, running at people with a fireball in one hand and a bloodstained sword in the other was an image I could not resist.

The Introduction/ Tutorial level was awesome, I really liked the way you could choose to go with Ralof the Stormcloak, or the Imperial soldier. I really like the way the game gives you choices which will impact the rulers of the land, the story is intense, and side quests are a lot more expansive. It was also really nice to see the organizations return, The Dark Brotherhood, Theives Guild and Mages Guild all returned, with what seems to be a Fighters Guild being renamed the Companions? I'm unsure about the Companions though, I've not really dabbled into their story. So story-wise, the game is great, but I'll leave it until I've got further in to talk more about that ( I'm only level 12, doing lots of side quests).

If we look at the game mechanics themselves, its really a brilliant game, the new Menu/ Journal system is great, giving a more fluid menu system, allowing the player to see all his items instead of scrolling through categories. The levelling and perk system is a great, the perks are awesome and expand greatly on the old, general increase in stats, allowing us to maybe put more into one handed combat rather than just increase our blade skill. The graphics are as usual with Bethesda games, amazing, the landscape is beautiful and plays well, I have seen way fewer bugs and glitches in Skyrim than in Oblivion, yes, there are occasional random occurances, but there always is.

So those are just some of my first impressions on Skyrim, expect more content on here soon and if you read all that and understood it all, Well Done!

No Birth Signs

Now this actually disappointed quite a lot. While creating a character on Oblivion, this was one of the key points in deciding what type of path your character will take. You could pick 'Mage' and take a more magicka based path, 'Shadow' for a stealth based path or 'Warrior' for a character that will be in a lot of strength based battles, but now what?

I'm guessing that the point of this is so you change the path your character will take at any point during the game i.e. your character wont have to stick to being a Mage if you start off in that direction. While this will save start and re-starting the game, this will definitely take something away from the character customization seen at the start of the game.

Farewell

The Return

Hello again friends, we have returned to this blog after a few months. We decided to take a break, for a few reasons, the biggest being there wasn't much new information of reveals of Skyrim since E3. But now we have returned with just over a month to Skyrim's release, so you guys can expect some more posts about Skyrim leading up to the release and after its release we're gonna keep posting. The content will most likely change from rumours and ideas to things like a quest of the week series and discussing the game in general, so if you have any suggestions, thoughts or comments, feel free to send us a message or follow us on Twitter.

Apart from that, I hope everyone is looking forward to the release, and finally,
Goodbye.

Custom Classes? Johnny? Khajits?

There's been a lot more information revealed about Skyrim, we now know that the character building system has been changed, we no longer select Mage, Warrior, Thief etc, instead we change our character as we progress through the story, allowing us to create our own custom class as we go along, something I think will be good as sometimes in Oblivion I wanted to change things about my character like star sign and attributes. It has also been confirmed that dragon attacks will occur randomly, mainly attacking settlements, mostly likely appear as a urgent quest or temporary icon, and after a certain amount of time, if we do not save the village it is destroyed, maybe forever? or until we rebuild it. From several mew images from the game, orcs and khajits have been confirmed as present in the game. More to come.

Johnny, after you turned the planned intervention into an orgy, I think we need to get you away from this house.

Relationships

The Skyrim developers have recently said that you will be able to have relationships with characters in the game, be it love or hate. I hope this idea broadens into companions, like on Fallout: New Vegas, and people helping you with one off tasks or maybe paying somebody to do a task for you. I imagine if you have a bad relationship with someone that they will ignore, this could possibly prevent you from completing quests.

I think me and you have a healthy relationship Johnny.

Mounts

I've been thinking about mounts in Skyrim, hopefully we start off with a horse, and maybe when we complete the game we can tame a dragon? With penis erect I figured there could be certain advantages and disadvantages to using a horse or dragon.

For example, maybe we can travel at any time when using a horse, whilst forfeiting speed and powerful attacks whilst riding. But if we ride a dragon, we can use the dragon to destroy whoever opposes us, but we can only travel on a dragon during the day, making the player make a very difficult decision.

So Johnny, what are you going to ride?
